ASL vocabulary that is not simple to translate into English
For modifying oneself to accommodate another, the sign is this. For example, I spoke in international sign language while they use ASL, so I switched to signing in ASL.
For feeling uncomfortable and having mixed feelings, the sign is this. For example, I am not sure whether I should go meet them.
For never having said, cannot say, or not meaning it, the sign is this. For example, they assumed I said this but really I didn’t.
For speaking from the heart, the sign is this. For example, I have to share my feelings about our relationship.
For talking strongly against, the sign is this. For example, they were angrily shooting comments at them, and they backed off.
For negotiating well or manipulating, the sign is this. For example, they were good buttering up to get in.
For suddenly increased mental stimulation, the sign is this. For example, when that idea was planted, my thoughts were aroused.
For feeling empathetic on a personal level, the sign is this. For example, we discussed it and understood each other wholeheartedly.
