ASL Oppression History

Teaching deaf individuals signing is good. In the 1900s, one person was rich from the phone business, and didn’t want deaf people to use signs, and instead wanted them to talk like hearing people. With his money and power, he advocated and had sign language removed from schools. The size of sign language education was shrinking. Many years later, sign language was brought back to education.
